SEACT School Shows

SEACT School Shows are special, low-cost performances for students. Our productions provide ample opportunities for English/Language Arts teachers to engage students in classroom activities that cover a broad range of curricular standards. Examples include: a Socratic seminar about a particular character or theme, evaluative writing about the production, and comparing/contrasting stage adaptations with their source material. 

The 25-26 season School Shows are Romeo & Juliet, Anastasia: The Musical (Youth Edition), and The Glass Menagerie. Please fill out the interest forms below and you will be contacted to make a group reservation. Please note: seats are filled on a first-come, first-serve basis pending receipt of payment. All bookings are non-refundable.​​

Description: 

This one-hour adaptation of Shakespeare's famous tragedy tells the story of two young lovers, Romeo and Juliet, whose families are in a long-standing feud. Despite their families' bitter rivalry, Romeo and Juliet secretly marry and plan to escape Verona together, but a series of misunderstandings lead to their untimely deaths and the reconciliation of their families. Featuring a blended student/adult cast.

When: Wednesday October 22, 9 AM & 11 AM (please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes early)

Run Time: 60 Minutes
 

Cost: $10 per ticket

Content Advisory: Includes mature themes, violence, self-harm, and mild sensuality. Recommended for ages 12+.

Description: Anastasia: The Musical is the spectacular new musical about discovering who you are and defining who you’re meant to be. ​From Tony winners Terrence McNally, Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, creators of such Broadway classics as Ragtime and Once On This Island, this dazzling show transports its audience from the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, as a brave young woman sets out to discover the mystery of her past. Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer determined to silence her, Anya enlists the aid of a dashing con man and a lovable ex-aristocrat. Together, they embark on an epic adventure to help her find home, love and family.

Description: Amanda Wingfield is a faded remnant of Southern gentility who now lives in a dingy St. Louis apartment with her son, Tom, and her daughter, Laura, who has a physical handicap and debilitating shyness. The father has left home; Tom supports his mother and sister with a shoe-factory job he finds unbearable. When Amanda convinces Tom to bring home from his workplace a “gentleman caller” for Laura, the illusions that Tom, Amanda, and Laura have each created in order to make life bearable collapse about them. A drama of great tenderness, charm, and beauty, THE GLASS MENAGERIE is an icon of the American theater. ​

Southeast Alabama Community Theatre (SEACT) has a mission to enrich the cultural lives of Wiregrass residents through the presentation of high quality theatre, to provide creative opportunities to talented individuals to perform on stage and behind the scenes, and to introduce the theatrical experience to school-aged children. SEACT is a 501(c) organization and depends on the support of its community to bring theatre to life in the Wiregrass. The organization is funded through season tickets, sponsorships, advertising, and donations.
